General description
This is the most sensitive and accurate instrument for measurement of remanent magnetization of rocks based on
classical (non-quantum, non-cryogenic) principles. Its outstanding sensitivity enables even rocks with very weak
remanent magnetization to be measured, for example, various sedimentary rocks including limestones and quartzites.
Two rotation speeds are available, the higher one (87.7 rps) enabling the maximum sensitivity to be reached, and
the
lower one (16.7 rps) enabling the soft specimen to be measured.
Versions
JR-6A
JR-6A (automated) version is destined for rapid and accurate measurement of remanent
magnetization.
The specimen is manually only inserted into the specimen holder and the instrument automatically changes the sample
orientations to obtain the remanence vector.
JR-6
JR-6 version is the non-automated version of the instrument with the same sensitivity and
accuracy.
It differs only in that the sample's orientation must be changed by hand as with all other magnetometers. According
to
the accuracy required, one can measure the specimen in two, four or six orientations. Can be upgraded to JR-6A
version
on-site by AGICO technician.
